Griffith Park Navigation Challenge

The inaugural Griffith Park Navigation Challenge was very well received. 45 Entries raced through the park in search of the 32 control markers, stashed along the trails, high and low. Two teams managed to clear the entire course. Team SaltStick even had more than a half-hour to spare. The teams indicated that they traveled upwards of 16 miles to get to every point.

Awards were presented to the top team in each class that was present at the ceremony. The winners in attendance received a small wooden bear ornament and some Cadbury chocolate. Results below show the overall placing and the placing by class. Teams that qualified as Junior, Family, or Masters are listed as such.

An event of this magnitude takes a great deal of help. Many thanks to the volunteers who gave time to be of assistance.
Special Thanks to Darren Robinson for all of the hours he spent checking control points and setting control markers.
Also thanks to Luigi Perotti, who always volunteers for control pickup, even when it's a rigorous 11-control loop to the top of Mt. Hollywood.

The most visited control was number 31 (36 teams). The least visited control was number 43 (8 teams).
