Mt. Pinos
June 18, 2017
Sunday
This event will take place within the Los Padres National Forest (permit in process).
Two days of orienteering on June 17-18, 2017. Open running through pine forests is a special treat that we only get to enjoy during the summer months. Don't miss it!
The weather forecast is for HOT conditions. Although we will place water on the course, competitors are also encouraged to carry their own. At this elevation, dehydration is common. To avoid the heat, we will try to open the courses early, as soon as we have everything ready, we'll open.
Come for a single day or make a weekend out of it. Different courses each day. Sunday will be Father's day so treat your Dad to some navigation fun in the mountains.
Courses will be set by participants of our Course Setting Clinic under the tutelage of Clare Durand.
Saturday Course Setters: David Burch, Louis Ng, John Phillips
Sunday Course Setters: Erin Lyscio, Tony Lyscio, Darren Robinson
Unfortunately, we were unable to secure either of the group campsites this year, so you're on your own. The family campsites at McGill are first-come, first serve. The campground generally does not fill to capacity when we are there. We generally try to secure the first campsite or two near the entrance to use as our registration and finish location. Note that McGill campsite does not have water.
